ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY
§ Supporting the development of international-mindedness and all NAS Guangzhou, Panyu learner attributes within the curriculum;
§ Helping to foster a stimulating learning environment based on understanding and respect;
§ Demonstrating open communication based on understanding and respect;
§ Observing and assisting the management of students at lunch time/canteen and each child to sit and to eat correctly when asked;
§ Ensuring students are taken immediately to school nurse in the event of an injury or medical concern;
§ Assisting the Teacher in communication with parents;
§ Working as a team in all areas of Teaching and Learning.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
§ Assisting the Teacher with teaching;
§ Assisting in the Teacher in differentiating classroom instruction to meet student’s individual learning needs and styles;
§ Assisting the Teacher in teaching explicitly on-going and inter/trans-disciplinary skills;
§ Assisting the Teacher in providing learning experiences that build on what students know and can do;
§ Helping to use technology as a vehicle for learning and integrating ICT skills teaching where possible;
§ 00000Promoting and fostering student reflection on learning experiences;
§ Empowering students to take self-initiated action because of the learning;
§ Managing class resources – furniture, equipment;
§ Updating notice boards to expose teaching and learning both inside and outside notice boards;
§ Assisting the Teacher in delivering open class lessons to parents and visitors;
§ Delivering or assisting weekly ECA, boarding lessons where appropriate;
§ Helping to ensure a safe classroom environment;
§ Assisting the Teacher in arranging classroom outings related to teaching and learning ensuring utmost safety is met;
§ Where appropriate, teaching English Literacy – Reading, writing, phonics using curriculum standards and procedures in all learning areas;
§ Assisting the Teacher in managing and maintaining student portfolios.
PLANNING AND PREPARATION
§ Assisting the Teacher in planning and reviewing the curriculum meeting the IPC and CNC standards;
§ Collaboratively developing and following a Grade Level Essential Agreement;
§ Attending and contributing to weekly collaborative planning meetings;
§ Supporting as needed in preparation for assemblies and events (such as sports, arts, celebrations).
§ Leading and delivering culturally appropriate awareness to the Homeroom Teacher for all ceremonial days;
§ Sharing resources with Homeroom Teacher where and when possible to enhance teaching and learning;
§ Transporting the safe passage of the children to and from their respective lessons away from their classroom;
§ Communicating in both languages translating English to Chinese when appropriate and required.
MANAGEMENT RESOURCES
§ Select appropriate resources to support learners in achieving teaching objectives.
§ Ensure resources are managed appropriately both within classrooms and shared resource areas
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
§ Support the life of the school beyond the classroom.
§ Lead one or more agreed after school activities each week.
§ Participate in residential weeks and other trips as appropriate.
§ Contribute to whole school learning initiatives.
PASTORAL DUTIES
§ Assist with a homeroom team.
§ Communicate, as appropriate, with parents.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
§ Attending and actively participating in meetings where appropriate;
§ Participating in Professional Development offered by the school where appropriate.
